JK Rowling’s is perhaps the most famous novelist in modern times. She wrote the Harry Potter series and eventually Hollywood turned the books into movies for all to see their most beloved characters on screen in the flesh.
The movies were spread over eight different parts and the franchise was a huge hit at the Box office. So you might be wondering what the cast of the movies is up to now. While Emma Watson has thrived as an actress and has done well in charitable and other Humanitarian work not all members of the cast have had it as good as her so here is what some of those characters from your favorite childhood movies are up to today.
In all of the eight movies the role of Harry Potter was played by British actor Daniel Radcliffe. He is now a young man in his late 20s and has found great success both in movies as well as on stage and now lives in Manhattan, New York.
Moreover, he is also a humanitarian activist and has been supporting the rights of the LGBTQ community.
Emma Watson played the role of Hermione Granger and did it well. During the series she blossomed from a young girl to a very beautiful woman. She continues to make great strides and has been working with the United Nations and has been the face of UN Women and has also been at the forefront of the HeforShe campaign also promoted by the UN.
She is also an icon for women empowerment along with being a successful actress and it does not end there. Emma Watson is also book smart and went to Brown University and Oxford University all the while continuing her acting career and venturing into humanitarian work,
The Character was played by actor Rupert Grint. The redhead actor has had relatively less success outside of the Harry Potter franchise in comparison to other actors such as Emma Watson or Daniel Radcliffe. He has also not ventured into humanitarian work and Harry Potter seems to have been the height of his career.
Professor Severus Snape
The role of the part evil and part good professor was played by Alan Rickman. Sadly he is no longer with us and passed back in 2016.
Professor Albus Dumbledore
Perhaps the most beloved character in the series was Professor Albus. The character was played by Sir Michael Gambon. The actor is now approaching the ripe old age of 80 and is still active as an actor.
The role was played by Matthew Lewis. He has had perhaps the most striking transformation of the entire cast as he grown up into adulthood. The shy little child is now one of the best looking actors out there in the world today.
While it is saddening to learn that Alan Rickman who played Professor Severus is no longer with us the rest of the cast is still alive and doing rather well. We wish them the best for their future.
The Harry Potter series is perhaps the most commercially successful ever. Across multiple adaptations be it the books or the movies the franchise has made a name for itself. The Harry Potter books would always end up selling like hot cakes when they came out.
In fact of the seven books that were published the latter four all broke sales records. As of February this year the books have a combined total of over half of a billion copies sold worldwide, making it the most widely sold non-religious book in the world.
